











In commemoration of the 65th anniversary of the Freedom Rides, John Herbert Phillips Academy, in collaboration with the Birmingham City Schools Fine Arts Department, hosted the We Shall Someday Project—a powerful blend of history, performance, and student engagement.
The concert performance of the original musical, We Shall Someday, featured Broadway actors. Following the show, the artists held a discussion on-stage with living Freedom Riders and the artists.










Announced during a check presentation at the school today, the funds are designated to support expenses related to SGA, ROTC, FBLA, Band, Robotics, Art Club, Fashion Design, Choir, Home Economics, Debate Team Shirts, and Personal Hygiene Items.

Seven Jackson-Olin scholars participating in the Dual Enrollment program received Certificates of Academic Achievement today from Dr. Angela Day, Dual Enrollment Specialist for Birmingham City Schools, and Tracy Spence of Lawson State Community College. These scholars maintained a 3.0 or higher college GPA while in high school! 🎓

A panel of coaches, athletic trainers, mental health professionals and sports psychologists fielded questions from scholar-athletes at Ramsay High School today as part of Beyond the Game, an event focused on the mental health challenges faced by athletes.

The Mind Strong Expo, a series of mental health awareness workshops held during physical education classes at our middle schools throughout May, kicked off today at Smith Middle School.
Students rotate through 12 engaging stations in small groups, building skills in emotional regulation, decision-making, coping strategies, and healthy relationships. By blending movement with mental wellness, the expo creates a space where students feel comfortable, energized, and supported.





















Today marks the start National Teacher Appreciation Week! To kick things off, we held our annual Teachers of the Year luncheon, where we honored our top educators at every school as well as our Teachers, Counselors, and Librarian of the Year for the district!
