Board Member Derrick Billups speaks to scholars at the Young Men's Summit.

Scholars from C.W. Hayes K-8 School and Ossie Ware Mitchell Middle School took a field trip to Lawson State Community College’s Birmingham campus today for some life lessons.

Presented by the Post-Secondary Success Department, the Young Men's Summit consisted of six life stations where scholars could learn skills such as making good first impressions, saving money, making decisions, and more.

The attendees also had some hands-on activities, such as learning how to tie a tie and how to cut an electrical wire.

Among the table leaders were Board Member Derrick Billups and Dr. Charles Willis, Instructional Superintendent of Post-Secondary Success.
