Stopfinder app

Birmingham City Schools has announced the launch of Stopfinder, a secure, easytouse parent/guardian app designed to provide families with real-time access to their child’s school bus information.

The free app, available for download through the App Store and Google Play, allows authorized parents and guardians to track their student’s school bus in real time, receive customized alerts, and communicate directly with the district’s transportation department.

To access transportation schedules and notifications, parents and guardians must first receive an invitation and complete registration through the district. Once registered, users can customize how and when they receive alerts regarding their child’s bus location and schedule updates.

Stopfinder also serves as a two-way communication platform, allowing district transportation officials to quickly share important information with families and enabling parents to communicate directly with transportation staff.

Because the app integrates seamlessly with the district’s routing system, transportation leaders can send targeted notifications to families affected by specific delays or route changes. For example, if a road closure impacts a particular bus route, only families affected by that delay will receive notifications.

“We are excited to offer this service to our parents and guardians,” said Birmingham City Schools Superintendent Dr. Mark Sullivan. “Stopfinder will provide families with peace of mind by keeping them informed in real time while also strengthening communication between parents and our transportation department.”

BCS Operations Officer Michael Moore said the new technology will help improve efficiency and responsiveness within the transportation department.

“This tool helps answer one of the most important questions parents ask: ‘Where is my child’s school bus?’” Moore said. “The ability to provide real-time updates and two-way communication will strengthen our connection with families and improve the overall transportation experience for our community.”

The district is encouraging parents and guardians who are eligible for transportation to sign up for the Stopfinder app by emailing transportation@bhm.k12.al.us.
