custodian of BCS

Each month, the Birmingham Board of Education recognizes the employees who go above and beyond the call of duty to make the district a better place, even when no one is looking.

These employees are critical to establishing and maintaining a positive culture and a safe, secure, and nurturing learning environment. They inspire their colleagues and our students to pursue excellence, serve others, and collaborate effectively towards common goals.

During its regularly scheduled board meeting on May 12, the board recognized some of the outstanding custodians of Birmingham City Schools:

These dedicated individuals play a vital role in the daily operations of our district by helping to maintain clean, safe, and welcoming learning environments for our scholars and staff. During times of increased need, many have willingly taken on additional responsibilities, assisted across multiple campuses, and demonstrated remarkable teamwork and dedication to ensure our schools continue operating smoothly and safely.

“Our custodians work tirelessly behind the scenes each day to ensure that our schools are prepared for teaching, learning, extracurricular activities, and special events,” said Michael Moore, Chief Operations Officer. “Their commitment, dependability, and pride in their work do not go unnoticed. From early mornings to late evenings, they consistently go above and beyond to support the success and well-being of everyone who enters our buildings.”
