Community First Birmingham, the Southwest Alliance Association and Project Hopewell honored the teachers of the year from District 7 during a banquet held today at Hopewell Baptist Church.
Superintendent Dr. Mark Sullivan, Board President Sherman Collins, and Board Members Walt Wilson and Antwon Womack, along with other local and state dignitaries, were in attendance at the event, which was organized by Wilson.
The teachers of the year honored included:
Taylyn Greene of Oxmoor Valley Elementary School
Eccoe Jones of Arrington Elementary School
Lisa Mobley of West End Academy
Keturah Wells of Jones Valley Middle School
Darrell Strickland of Green Acres Middle School
Kitwana Carter of Wenonah High School.
Along with the teachers, the organizations recognized former Wenonah Principal Sidney Moore and current Wenonah Principal Dr. Willie Goldsmith, who will join Moore in retirement after this school year.
