Hayes K-8 School celebrated the birthday of its namesake, Carol William Hayes, today with the dedication of a mural in his honor.
The long-time educator and administrator served Birmingham during and after the era of segregated public schools.
The school also recognized notable alumni during the celebration, including Dr. Anthony L. Gardner, Cynthia Woodfin-Kellum, Tyrone Williams and Bryan Green, among others.
