Danterria Blackmon, sixth grade science teacher at Green Acres Middle Schools, is the latest BCS educator to receive the One Class At A Time Grant.
Representatives from CBS 42 and program sponsor Greene & Phillips Law Firm awarded the $1,000 grant to Ms. Blackmon during a surprise visit to the school on November 19. The teacher and her sixth grade class were featured during tonight’s 5 p.m. news broadcast.

The funds will help her purchase materials to conduct hands-on activities and experiments with her class.
“This grant would be a huge blessing for myself and my students because we are eager to learn and having more hands-on opportunities could allow them to be influenced to want to obtain more knowledge every day,” said Blackmon in her grant submission.
Educators from Ramsay, Woodlawn, Jackson-Olin, Phillips, Princeton, Dupuy, and Inglenook won the award last year.
