Graduate students from the Heersink School of Medicine at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) held the Aspiring Medical Students White Coat Ceremony at Barrett Elementary School today!

After accepting their white coats and reciting the Hippocratic Oath, the scholars learned more about various careers in healthcare and had the opportunity to interact with medical instruments.

Barrett partnered with Heersink to give third through fifth grade scholars early exposure and training in the medical field. Students will be learning about various systems, body parts, vital organs, taking blood pressure, CPR, and more! The program is the first of its kind for Birmingham City Schools.
