The first day of classes for the 2025-26 school year is August 7! This news post will serve as a back-to-school guide for all the things parents will need to do to be Ready Day One.
Registration: Register now to ensure your child(ren) are in class on the first day! Head over to our registration page to begin the process. If you need in-person assistance, extended help desk hours are available at the Lincoln Professional Development Center Monday through Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Thursday from 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Don't delay; register today!
Calendars: Sync the district calendar with your personal calendar in the Events section of our website. Printable calendars are also available here.
Bus Routes: Updated bus routes for 2025-2026 are now available on our website!
Rooms: Starting this school year, we will use the Rooms platform through the BCS mobile app for classroom communications. Download the BCS app for iPhone or Android and look out for onboarding emails later in July.
FOCUS Act: We've updated our Code of Conduct (Appendix XI: Electronic Device Policy) to comply with the FOCUS Act.
Back to School Rallies
Community organizations across the Birmingham area host back to school rallies before the start of school. We'll keep you posted on each event as we learn about them. (Updated July 31)
Bush Hills STEAM Academy Registration: Make-up registration is underway at Bush Hills STEAM Academy (map). Students will pick-up schedules and receive supplies (while they last). After August 3, you will have to call the front office (205-231-6370) to make an appointment.

Birmingham Crossplex Birthday Bash: The Crossplex is celebrating 14 years with a free fun day! Join in the festivities, which includes school supplies and backpack giveaway, games, door prizes, facility tours, a car show, and much more! Heal the Block: At this community healing and unity event, enjoy food, entertainment, music, free haircuts, giveaways, and free school supplies. Health screenings, vendors, a children's corner, community resources, job training, voter registration, and mental health resources will also be available. Sponsored by District 6 Councilor Crystal Smitherman, the Birmingham City Council, Jefferson County Family Resource Center, Offender Alumni Association, D9, the City of Birmingham, Jefferson County, Archibald and Woodrow's BBQ, and V94.9 FM. City of Birmingham's Tools for School presented by Window World is free, family-friendly back-to-school bash will be held August 3 from 2 to 5 p.m. Food trucks will start serving at 1 p.m.
The event will feature a school supplies giveaways for students and Birmingham City Schools teachers — while supplies last — plus games, inflatables, food trucks, music, and more!
There will be appearances from mascots with The Birmingham Stallions and the Birmingham Squadron.
The Birmingham Public Library will distribute pre-packaged craft packs, goodies and resources for families.
Free parking will be available in the Boutwell deck
Community partners include: Window World, Rising Star Baptist Church, Coca-Cola United, Church of the Highlands and the Birmingham Parking Authority.
