Our instructional focus this week is Formative Assessments: Adjusting Instruction. Teachers will regularly check for student understanding and use that information to adjust instruction and provide additional support when needed.
We are also continuing our focus on academic vocabulary, with students moving beyond simply copying definitions to using strategies such as Frayer Models, visuals, examples/non-examples, morphology, and context clues.

Green Acres Middle School scholars, faculty, and staff had an amazing time promoting healthy, drug-free lifestyles with our special guest, Officer Lane Harper!
Students were given the opportunity to ask important questions and openly discuss the effects of drugs and the importance of making positive choices. BCS Influencers shared a healthy meal with faculty and staff making healthy choices for lunch. The cafeteria staff made taco bake and tacos for all students to Taco Bout It!!
To encourage further participation, students even received socks for speaking up and engaging in the conversation from Officer Lane Harper! 🧦👏🏽
A huge THANK YOU to BCS Influencers 4-H Health Rocks!!! for supporting this impactful event and helping empower our students to make healthy decisions for their future. What an awesome experience. Thanks 4 -H Mrs. D. Bates for making sure our day was a complete success.

Our spur-of-the-moment idea turned into something truly special! 💚💛 We kicked off Mental Health Awareness Month with a breakfast for everybody, and it was filled with love, laughter, and unity. From sizzling bacon to plenty of turkey bacon for our non-pork eaters 😂 we made sure everyone felt included and cared for. This was more than just breakfast… it was a reminder that supporting one another matters. Taking time to check in, show appreciation, and simply be there for each other is what makes our school family strong. A very special thank you to all of our amazing co-workers who donated to the awareness cause and helped bring my last-minute idea to life. Your kindness and teamwork made it all possible! Join us as we celebrate our incredible educators during Teacher Appreciation Week, May 4th – May 8th!
Our teachers pour into our students every single day, and now it’s our turn to show them just how much they are appreciated!
🎁 Donations Welcome!
Help us keep our teachers energized all week long by contributing snacks and drinks they can grab throughout the day.
We are asking families to donate:
🍪 Individually wrapped snacks (chips, crackers, granola bars, cookies, candy)
🥤 Drinks (sodas, bottled water, juice, sports drinks)
🧁 Breakfast items (muffins, pastries, snack cakes)
💛 Other grab-and-go treats
📍 Drop-Off Information:
Send items with your student or drop them off at the front office. Donations will be accepted all week!
